Keep Your Drivers' License
The first step towards keeping your drivers' license after a DUI arrest is to request an administrative hearing from the Washington State Department of Licensing. You must pay a $200 request fee and complete the required form within 20 days of the arrest.
The second step is to prevail at the administrative hearing by casting doubt on the state's case. If that can be done (and it often can), the Department may decide to hold off on the drivers' license suspension until the criminal case is resolved.
The third and final step that must be taken to keep your drivers' license is to prevail in the criminal case as well — which may mean obtaining a dismissal, securing a plea to lesser, non-DUI charges or being acquitted at trial.
Our lawyers can help you keep your drivers' license. At Ronnie Rae & Associates, we represent individuals throughout Washington State in both administrative license suspension hearings and in criminal DUI cases. For the aggressive defense you need, call or contact us today.
What Happens at the Suspension or Revocation Hearing?
Essentially, an administrative official will consider evidence as to four things: whether sufficient probable cause existed for the stop; whether proper arrest procedures were followed; the breath or blood test results; and last, whether those tests were administered correctly.
Our attorneys are skilled at raising doubt in these hearings and have successfully done so on behalf of countless previous clients. These hearings also give us a good preview of the state's case and in that sense, are invaluable in helping us to prepare a more effective DUI defense.
Founding attorney, Ronnie Rae, is a member of the National College for DUI Defense — a highly respected national organization that requires active participation and ongoing education with regard to cutting edge DUI issues and defense strategies.
